Commissioning Process

Commissioning is the final and most critical step in integrating a DeCharge device into the live network. It marks the transition from physical installation to operational status, ensuring that the charger is functioning safely, connected to the backend, and ready to earn rewards.

This process is mandatory for all deployment models including delegated, partnered, and self-installations and applies across the product range (Mini, Beast, Titan Mini and Titan).

Purpose of Commissioning

  • Verify hardware installation against technical requirements

  • Validate safety protections, power quality, and earthing

  • Confirm internet connectivity and telemetry streaming

  • Sync the charger to the Charging Management System (CMS)

  • Enable reward tracking and dashboard access

Step-by-Step Commissioning Workflow

The commissioning process involves seven key stages:

1. Site Verification

  • The host or installer submits the completed Pre-Install Checklist and CMS form

  • DeCharge reviews the documentation, photos, and site specifications

  • If required, a virtual or physical inspection is scheduled

  • Approval is granted to proceed to hardware activation

2. Installer Dispatch or Host Self-Installation

  • Delegated Installations: DeCharge dispatches an approved field technician to the site

  • Self Installations: Hosts may complete setup and coordinate remotely with the DeCharge team

  • Partnered Deployments: Coordinated through third-party operations team with DeCharge oversight

3. Electrical and Network Setup

  • Final cabling, earthing, and breaker installation is verified on-site

  • Charger is physically mounted to wall, pole, or plinth

  • Internet mode (Wi-Fi, LAN, or 4G SIM) is connected and tested

  • Safety features such as RCD, surge protection, and thermal cutoff are cross-checked

  • On-device diagnostics are triggered to ensure integrity of internal subsystems

4. Initial Power-On and Self-Test

  • The charger is powered on and enters diagnostic mode

  • Internal sensors run self-checks for temperature, voltage, and metering integrity

  • LED indicators show operational readiness

  • Firmware version and network pairing are validated against the backend

5. CMS Integration and Activation

  • The device connects to the Charging Management System (CMS)

  • A unique device ID is generated and mapped to the host’s account

  • Telemetry such as energy dispensed, uptime, and charging session data begins syncing

  • Device status is reflected on the host dashboard

  • Live connectivity is maintained for a minimum of 24 hours to ensure stable operation

6. Final Review and Confirmation

  • DeCharge performs backend review of the following:

    • Energy logging

    • Network connectivity

    • Safety telemetry

    • Location tagging

  • A confirmation email is sent to the host indicating the device is now live

  • Device ID is now visible on the host panel and eligible for rewards

  • From this point, every kilowatt-hour dispensed is tracked and factored into the reward engine

7. Orientation and Support

  • A 15 to 30-minute onboarding session is provided (online or in person)

  • Includes:

    • How to monitor usage

    • Reward tracking and payout logic

    • When and how to perform basic maintenance

    • Troubleshooting common issues

  • The final commissioning form is signed and stored in the DeCharge records

Typical Timeline

Phase
Estimated Duration

Site readiness review

1-3 business days

Installation and setup

1 day (or host-guided)

CMS pairing and testing

12-24 hours

Go-live and orientation

Within 48 hours of pass

Note: Timeline may vary based on deployment model, region, and internet or power availability.

Important Considerations

  • Chargers cannot earn rewards until commissioning is successfully completed

  • Any change in site layout, power input, or internet connectivity may require re-commissioning

  • Device tampering post-commissioning will void warranty and may result in suspension from the rewards system

  • If the device remains offline for more than 72 hours post commissioning, it is flagged for follow-up
